If you really want to chill out, then come canoeing from our base at Ditchford Lock on the banks of the River Nene near Wellingborough in rural Northamptonshire. This beautiful stretch of river benefits from a wonderfully central location midway between London and Birmingham, within 30 minutes of both the M1 and A1.
The River Nene is one of Northamptonshire’s finest assets and it has a wealth of natural and historic beauty for you to enjoy in your Canoe.

With a choice of ½ day to 5 days canoe hire, there is something for everyone, and if it’s your first time canoeing, our “Old Town” Canadian canoes coupled with the gentle River Nene, make Canoe2 a perfect choice for novices. Before you get paddling, we’ll give you a thorough Safety Briefing, some information about the river, and good advice on the basics of canoeing.

Your canoe hire package includes everything you need for your time on the river: canoes, paddles, buoyancy aids, watertight barrels and canoe trolleys. Happily, to ensure that you can make the most of your time canoeing the river, Canoe2 can provide transport so you only need to paddle one way - Downstream! We can also assist you with camping facilities or overnight accommodation arrangements.

Where will you Canoe2?
Old Town Canoes
Chosen for their strength & stability, we have over 30 “Old Town” canoes, each with either 2, 3 or 4 seats. Whilst being the canoe of choice for many seasoned canoeists the world over, they are also perfectly suited for the novice paddler. If you have lots of gear with you (or perhaps just a small picnic), there is plenty of space for the small and large water-tight containers provided, helping keep your belongings safe & dry.
Arrival Time
Dependent upon your chosen route, arrival times at Ditchford Lock are between 8.30am and 1.00pm. Exact time will be confirmed upon booking, allowing time to sort out paperwork, fit your buoyancy aids and issue paddles etc before we take you to your start point on the river.
Destination Ditchford
Canoe2 is based at Ditchford Lock in rural Northamptonshire between Rushden and Irthlingborough. On-site facilities include caravan & camping, a riverside cafe, fishing, farm shop, boat moorings, Ditchford Nature Reserve and great walks including the Nene Valley Way.
