Perfect for first-time paddlers. Much like the 2 hour “paddle-out-and-back”, but more time to relax and enjoy!
This Half Day paddle across the lake and out to the river gives you up to four hours on the water, and a great start/end point at the fabulous Rushden Lakes leisure & retail destination.
Unless conditions dictate otherwise, you'll paddle downstream toward Higham Ferrers Lock, perhaps for an extended picnic, and gentle paddle back. Or you might portage beyond that first lock, and continue downstream to the next lock for a shorter break before paddling back.
Choose our traditional open Canadian Canoes or maybe get a little further in a double kayak.

Pre-Book your start from Rushden Lakes with one of the following check-in times:
9.00am, 10.30am or 12.00pm
Paddling Time: Up to 4 hours
Distance: You’re in control
Availability: 5 days a week (exc. Tue/Wed) April to September, and 7 days during Summer School Hols
Suitable for: All-Adult Groups or Adults with Children aged 5 upwards.

Level: Easy (under most conditions)
Nice simple, lower cost option as there is no transport involved – You’ll simply paddle out from The Boathouse, across our lake, portage across to the river, and explore.
When the time is right, simply turn around and paddle back, ending back at Rushden Lakes Leisure, Retail & Restaurants.
An alternative to this half-day paddle would be to consider enjoying a day visiting Chester House Estate by Canoe…
