The River Nene in East Northamptonshire is the county’s best kept secret and what better way to unlock its magic than exploring it in a Canadian open canoe. It’s an excellent way to shake off the stresses and strains of normal day to day life as it forces you to slow down to the rivers gentle pace. Rediscover our incredible heritage with beautiful villages like Fotheringhay, the birth place of Richard III and site of the imprisonment and later execution of Mary Queen of Scots. Or maybe Lyvden New Beild. This Elizabethan property was abandoned In 1605 when its creator Sir Thomas Tresham died and his son became embroiled in the Catholic gunpowder plot.
One thing is for sure, you will discover a piece of our Kingdom that remains unspoilt and is rich in heritage as well as being home to a wonderful collection of wildlife.
