Ideas & Recommendations
On this River Trip Chooser page you'll find advice on which trips tend to best suit your group. But we try not to be too prescriptive - For sure, it's our advice based on 11 years of experience offering canoe & kayak hire trips on The River Nene, but everybody is different, with differing levels of strength & fitness, and looking for different experiences, so feel free to choose any trip you like (subject of course to experience required for SUP hire, and our child age restrictions of course). And note that the suggestions are far from exhaustive, we discuss a small number of trips here, but on our booking pages you'll find around 14 different trips to choose from, so do explore. Read on for our thoughts, and get yourself booked online, or give us a call if you'd like a little more advice over the phone. Another source of info is our great FAQ page, filled with loads of good advice, just use the link below...

Great All-Round Favourites for Couples, Friends, and Families, perhaps with older children
For your group, most of our trips are worth considering, with your final choice most likely dependant upon the time you have available, budget, and of course, personal preference & fitness. Best thing we can do here is recommend our most popular trips. From our "Choose & Book" menu option, why not explore either of our full day downstream paddles? Transport back is included, and you'll have a thoroughly enjoyable day on the water, either paddling from Rushden Lakes to Thrapston, or from Thrapston to Oundle Mill. Alternatively, any out-n-back canoe or kayak paddles will work for you, or perhaps a multi-day B&B Short Break to really find your Outdoorsy Self again. If you're considering Stand-Up-Paddleboarding for the first time, you'll need a lesson before hiring, and then perhaps hire for a couple of hours or the day? The link below will take you directly to our canoe day paddle from Rushden to Thrapston, but do explore beyond that before you decide...

The Perfect UK Staycation
We've been perfecting our two-day Canoeing Short Breaks for 11 years now, since 2010. Highly serviced with all canoes & equipment provided, along with thorough safety & paddle demonstrations, our beautiful River Nene is perfect for complete novices, being a very calm, peaceful, slow moving river. You don't need to be gym-bunny to paddle the Nene, but a reasonable level of fitness is helpful, as some physical effort is required to paddle, and move your boat by the locks. If you're looking for a short break that makes the most of the lovely Nene Valley in rural East Northamptonshire, with return transport, and baggage transfer all included, we'll make that happen for you this year, with our 2022 Short Breaks available now. Please use the link below to see our range of 2-day Canoeing B&B Short Breaks (not forgetting our unique "Champing" option, Church Camping, as shown)
